Have a look at these gorgeous piwakawaka! I am so proud of the Room 9 tamariki for all their hard work. The Junior Showcase is on YouTube at the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERbiYJWY05E&feature=youtu.be
While they were waiting to be picked up after school, Vesper and Natysha-Rae made some patterns with crayons. Vesper's sister Matilda joined in too. Well done!
Sam had the great idea to make fruit kebabs at discovery on Friday. We used apples, bananas, grapes, pineapple and marshmallows. Yum yum! On Thursday afternoon, Andrew and Scott from Christchurch Metro Cricket visited to teach us cricket skills. We learnt how to catch the ball, hit the ball and be an effective fielder. I think we have a few future Black Caps/White Ferns in Room 9!
No week at St Albans School is ever the same! We started the week with a poetry show and ended it with a poetry competition, discovery, Wheelie Day AND assembly. Phew! I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. On Thursday we spent the day at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. It was great to have Team Star and Team Lightning together on the trip. We saw a variety of New Zealand native animals as well as more exotic species. We joined with Room 7 and the children enjoyed spending the day with different friends. We were so quiet and respectful we saw four (or was it five?) kiwi! It was a very special experience. The children loved seeing the rabbits, the talking bird and the gibbons who were having a great time communicating with each other! Thank you to Zena's Mum Kim for accompanying us and sharing photos.
- Willowbank notices need to be back this Monday and any offers of parent help would be much appreciated!
- The in class poetry competition will be held in Week 3 on Friday at 9.15, not at 2.15 as was written in the notice. - Please return the envelope with your photo order and payment by Tuesday 4 August. |
Kia ora and welcome to Room 9's blog! We love to share our learning with our friends and whanau :-)
